Homeowners Beware of Foreclosure Rescue Scams

With the recent rise in foreclsores, foreclosure-related scams have exploded on the the real estate scene.  These so-called "foreclosure companies" claim they will help save your home, but in reality are out to make a profit - at your expense.

Red Flags include:

• Asking for money upfront before providing any service.
• Requires payment only in the form of cash/cashier's check or wire transfer.
• Instructs you not to contact your lender, housing conselor, family friends or others.
• Promises to stop the foreclosure process.
• Advises you to tranfer your property deed or title to his or her company.
• Offers to fill out paperwork for you.
